25th Anniversary Walcott Truckers Jamboree Kicks Off Next Week (07/01/2004) WALCOTT, IA — The 2004 Walcott Truckers Jamboree will be celebrating it’s “Chrome” anniversary next Thursday & Friday, July 8th & 9th at the Iowa 80 Truckstop, Interstate 80 & Exit 284, Walcott, Iowa. “It’s the 25th Anniversary of the Walcott Truckers Jamboree and the 40th Anniversary of Iowa 80 Truckstop so we’ve pulled out all the stops for this year’s event,” says Heather DeBaillie, Marketing Manager. In honor of the 25th Anniversary there will also be a fireworks show on Thursday night at 9:15 pm; a book signing by Kathy L’Amour, wife of author the late Louis L’Amour from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm, July 8, inside the chrome shop, for newly released book Hondo ; A giant birthday cake with cake cutting at 2:30 pm on July 8; Colgate Country Showdown music competition on July 9th from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm and many other activities! Everyone is welcome to join in Celebrating America’s Truckers and enjoy live country bands, delicious Iowa pork chops, over 175 exhibits, carnival games, hundreds of antique trucks on display, the Super Truck Beauty Contest, Driver’s Best Friend Pet Contest, Trucker Olympics and more !
