World’s Largest Truckstop to Host Fuel Stop for Famous Antique Car Rally on Sunday
Iowa 80 Truckstop has been selected as a fuel stop for the Hemming’s Motor News Great Race, a cross country road rally of antique cars. Nearly 100 racers will be fueling at Iowa 80 Truckstop on Sunday, June 23rd between 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM. The community is invited to watch as the racers roll in and fuel up before heading to Davenport.
“We ran our 1938 Kenworth in the Great Race for over 10 years, so we know many of the racers and Great Race staff. We are very excited to be hosting a pit stop for them this year. It’ll be just like old times.” says Delia Moon Meier, Senior Vice President, Iowa 80 Truckstop.
Iowa 80 & CAT Scale’s 1938 Kenworth will run a portion of the race and is the only semi-tractor in the cross-country competition. Iowa 80 Truckstop also hosted a fuel stop for the Great Race in 2005.
The Great Race is a time/speed/endurance road-rally for vintage automobiles, manufactured at least forty-five years ago. The 2013 event will be run over nine days, starting in St. Paul, Minnesota on June 22nd and ending on June 30th in Mobile, Alabama.
