Walcott Truckers Jamboree Kicks Off Next Week

Iowa 80 Truckstop’s 36th Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree will kick off next week on July 9th for three full days of everything trucking.

The event will feature nearly 175 exhibits; a Super Truck Beauty Contest, Antique Truck Display; Iowa pork chop cookout; Trucker Olympics; carnival games; several free concerts:  Natalie Stovall & The Drive on July 9th courtesy of CAT Scale and Lindsay Lawler and The Josh Abbott Band on July 10th presented by Mobil Delvac and local bands North of 40 and Dani Lynn Howe & Band also will perform. There will be fireworks displays on Thursday and Friday night and loads of fun for the whole family!  Friday afternoon attendees can enjoy a piece of cake at the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum in celebration of the 1915 Mack AB truck’s 100th birthday.

“We are celebrating America’s truckers and the hard work they do to keep this country moving,” says Delia Moon Meier, owner. “We are proud and honored to have been serving professional drivers for over 51 years. It’s really neat to see third and even fourth generation drivers who stop at Iowa 80,” says Meier.

The first Walcott Truckers Jamboree only attracted a few hundred people in 1979 and featured a few exhibits, live music, food and a small display of antique trucks.  Last year’s event attracted over 44,000 attendees.  Celebrating America’s Truckers is why the Jamboree was founded all those years ago and is still at the very core of the event.  It is Iowa 80’s way of thanking drivers for all of their hard work and dedication in hauling America’s freight.

The 36th Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree, will be held July 9-11, 2015 at Iowa 80 Truckstop, I-80 Exit 284, Walcott, Iowa. Admission and parking are FREE!  Shuttles will be provided from the parking area to the event grounds.
